[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The Final conference of the project \u2018<\/em>Emphasis on developing and upgrading of competences for academic teaching \u2013 Educa-T\u2019, took place at the <\/em>Faculty of Teacher Education, University of Zagreb<\/em>, on 8 May 2018.<\/em><\/p>\n

The participants were welcomed by\u00a0Mr Ivan Prskalo, PhD,\u00a0 Dean of the Faculty of Teacher Education;\u00a0Mrs Branka Ramljak, PhD, State Secretary,\u00a0who welcomed the participants on behalf of the Ministry of Science and Education, and\u00a0Mr Damir Boras, PhD, Rector of the University of Zagreb.<\/p>\n

Mrs Branka Ramljak, State Secretary and Mr Damir Boras, Rector of the University of Zagreb highlighted that developing teaching competences in higher education is one of the most important factors of quality assurance in higher education. They acknowledged that systematic support at the national level should be given to the development of teaching competences, and the results of the Educa-T project will contribute to this.<\/p>\n

The first session of the conference was dedicated to\u00a0best practice in quality teaching in Europe. Professor Thomas Olsson, Lund University, Sweden, delivered a presentation “Demonstrating and rewarding excellence in university teaching”. Mr Jack Thompson, Office for Students, UK, presented the Teaching Excellence Framework, a framework for recognising and rewarding excellent teaching in higher education in the UK. Cis Van Den Bogaert, University of Antwerp, Belgium, presented the project\u00a0 “The curriculum in higher education challenged”.<\/p>\n

Mr\u00a0Marko Turk, PhD\u00a0at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences ot the University of Rijeka, \u00a0presented\u00a0 national experiences in developing competences for teaching and learning, including an overview of the results of the Focus groups whose meetings were held at\u00a0Croatian Universities within the framework of the Educa-T project.<\/p>\n

Mrs\u00a0Vlatka Domovi\u0107, PhD, professor at the Faculty of Teacher Education of the University of Zagreb,\u00a0Mrs Jasminka Ledi\u0107, PhD, professor\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the University of Rijeka and Mrs Marina Crn\u010di\u0107 Sokol, Ministry of Science and Education, presented the Educa-T project and its results: Competence Profile, Curriculum Framework and Policy Recommendations.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0following session of the Conference was dedicated to parallel workshops that were held by Mrs Svjetlana Koli\u0107-Vehovec, PhD, professor\u00a0at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the University of Rijeka,\u00a0Mrs Morana Koludrovi\u0107, PhD, assistant professor at the\u00a0Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the University of Split and\u00a0Mrs Renata Juki\u0107, PhD, assistant professor at the Department for Pedagogy of the J. J. Strossmayer University of Osijek.<\/p>\n

The topic of\u00a0 parallel workshops was “What to do after the project?” and its objective was to examine the possibilities of\u00a0implementing\u00a0the project results. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n

The final session of the Conference was dedicated to the conclusions of the Educa-T project.<\/p>\n

The importance of developing the quality of teaching and learning at all the levels (particularly at the level of professionally – oriented HEIs) as well as the creation of legal preconditions for developing an integral system for enhancing teaching competences in higher education was pointed out.
