As part of the Educa-T project activities, on 26 May 2017, two focus groups were held at the Rectorate of the Josip Juraj Strossmayer University in Osijek. The aim was to analyse the Competence Framework drafted by the Educa-T Project Working Group.
Members of the focus groups were assistants and young lecturers from the Josip Juraj Strossmayer University. The aim of the Working Group members was to raise a discussion about the proposed Competence Framework at various higher education institutions across Croatia and to polish the final version of the Competence profile so that it would best fit the needs of higher education teachers.
Based on questions defined by the Working Group members, the focus groups were led by Mr Marko Turk, Ph.D, together with Ms Aleksandra Čižmešija, Ph.D. and Ms Renata Jukić, Ph.D., as well as the representatives of the Educa-Ts project team.
During the discussion, the assistants and young lecturers highlighted the challenges encountered by higher education teachers while teaching, they expressed their views as teachers and/or researchers, and provided feedback and comments on the proposed Competence Framework.
The unanimous conclusion was that it was extremely useful to open up discussions on the importance and role of high quality teaching in higher education and all participants expressed high expectations from future project activities.
The next focus group meeting is to be held on 9 June 2017 in Split.
